Meghan Markle e il principe Harry hanno rinunciato al ruolo di membri anziani della famiglia reale e hanno in programma di diventare “finanziariamente indipendenti”. La bomba è arrivata questo pomeriggio dalla Gran Bretagna con la coppia regale che ha annunciato la decisione via Instagram. Una decisione maturata dopo mesi di illazioni e di pettegolezzi.

Da rilevare che il duca e la Duchessa non hanno rinunciato al loro titolo mobiliare ed hanno riferito che hanno intenzione di andare a vivere in Nord America, lontano dai fastidiosi rumors di corte che vedevano Meghan, spesso e volentieri, al centro delle polemiche.

‘Dopo mesi di riflessione abbiamo deciso di fare un passo indietro’

“Dopo molti mesi di riflessione e discussioni interne, quest’anno abbiamo scelto di fare una transizione iniziando a ritagliarsi un nuovo ruolo progressivo all’interno di questa istituzione. Abbiamo intenzione di fare un passo indietro come membri” anziani “della famiglia reale e lavorare per diventare finanziariamente indipendenti.

Pur continuando a sostenere pienamente Sua Maestà la regina” – hanno scritto su Instagram precisando, poi, che si sentono forti per affrontare quest’importante svolta: “Ora prevediamo di bilanciare il nostro tempo tra il Regno Unito e il Nord America, continuando a onorare il nostro dovere nei confronti della Regina, del Commonwealth”.

This morning, The Duchess of Sussex went back to college!  Joining students and educators at The University of Johannesburg The Duchess was able to announce a new series of gender grants from the Association of Commonwealth Universities, of which she is patron. She was also able to announce four new scholarships to help students study in different commonwealth countries, allowing cross cultural understanding and an opportunity to deepen their educational studies abroad. One of the recipients of these grants shared his story of growing up on farmland in Kenya, where he paid for his education trading vegetables to cover schooling costs (cauliflower leaves to be exact!) He is now doing a research study on carcinogens in his country, its link to cancer – his work is helping to change practices and to save lives. The Duchess was so moved by the work being done across the education sector and to talk with such like-minded thinkers about the importance of access to education and the support needed internally. When the round table discussion this morning moved to the challenges faced in this sector and how daunting it can all seem, The Duchess said, “Sometimes access to education can seem so big, you wonder where to even begin? So you begin with one student, or one school, you simply begin. And that’s when we see change.” She continued by referencing a Martin Luther King Jr quote: “Take the first step… you don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” Since @the_acu_official Gender Grants were launch in 2016, 28 universities in 17 countries have benefited with a minimum of 600 beneficiaries participating in workshops supported by the grants. #RoyalVisitSouthAfrica Photo ©️ PA images

La coppia è appena tornata nel Regno Unito dalle vacanze natalizie trascorse in Canada per sei settimane. Dopo il loro ritorno a Londra, fu presto ipotizzato che avrebbero fatto la spola tra il Canada e il Regno Unito e abbandonato i ltitoli “HRH”.

Il patrimonio del principe Harry e di Meghan Markle

Nel Regno Unito, la coppia risiede nella loro casa di Windsor, Frogmore Cottage , che è stata rinnovata lo scorso anno al costo di 2,4 milioni sterline.

Secondo il Mirror prima di sposarsi Meghan, che ha avuto una carriera di successo nella recitazione, avrebbe accumulato una fortuna personale di circa £ 3,8 milioni.

Si pensa che la fortuna del principe Harry sia di circa 30 milioni di sterline, molti dei quali ereditati da sua madre, la principessa Diana e dalla regina madre.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined hundreds of veterans and their families at the 91st Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, to honour and remember those who lost their lives in service of their country. Their Royal Highnesses each planted a Cross of Remembrance, paying respect to those who have served in our Armed Forces. They were then honoured to spend time meeting with veterans and family members from all areas of the Armed forces – from those who have served in past campaigns to more recent conflicts. This is the seventh time The Duke has attended the Field of Remembrance – having previously accompanied The Duke of Edinburgh for several years.
